Head Lice And Lindane Shampoo?

I discovered that I had a head lice infestation last night, and treated my head with lindane shampoo at around one o’clock this afternoon. Is there any reason why I cannot take a shower tonight? Also, if I do not comb out ALL of the nits, will the infestation return, or should all the lice/eggs be dead?
